Description

"Formerly designed for long-distance missions, the Gryphon was equipped with heavy weapons systems and redeployed as a powerful bomber. With its heavily armored hull and large cargo hold, it is among the highest-performance warships in the Space Fleet despite its low maneuverability."

Characteristics

The re-make of the old Gryphon, which was one of the most popular Terran ships during the Vossk wars. Besides the elegant fighter's new paint job, the manufacturers have also put a lot of emphasis on an enhanced maneuverability.

Notes

The Gryphon, despite its large appearance, is surprisingly maneuverable. This, combined with the ability to equip four primary weapons, make it very versatile. This can be a cheaper alternative to the Veteran. Downsides include the inability to mount a turret, the spread-apart arrangement of the primary weapons causing a lowered accuracy, and its large size making it easier to hit. This is remedied with very good handling and better armor than the Veteran. The Gryphon can be considered more attack-oriented than the well-rounded Veteran.

Trivia

  • It is one of five Galaxy on Fire 3D ships to be included in Galaxy on Fire 2.
  • It is pronounced "g-rif-en", not "g-ri-fen".
  • It is the only ship that has intakes
  • It's wings look like the F/A-18 Hornet of today.
  • There are four markings which looks like a "V" in a circle, two on the tail fins, two right below the cockpit.
  • Despite being considered a terran ship, it can only be found in the Nesla System, one of the two ships that can be found there, the other being the Vol Noor.
