The AB-3 "Kingfisher" tractor beam can pull in certain objects without hesitation.

In-Game DescriptionEdit

The Kingfisher is the only tractor beam on the market with an integrated process for automatically transferring useful objects to the cargo hold without causing disruption.

When the player shoots down a ship, or when an asteroid is destroyed, sometimes a container or smaller asteroid is left behind, respectively. However, simply running into it will not collect the object, unlike many videogames with collecting mechanics. Tractor beams do the job for the player, and can be performed at any distance without needing to collide with the object. No other objects than loot containers and smashed asteroids can be collected or moved with any tractor beam.

Unlike the simpler models in its range, the "Kingfisher" has no lock time, meaning that any loot containers or smashed asteroids that fall underneath the forward field of vision will be pulled in immediately. Players who wish to be more efficient in salvaging loot from large battles can breathe easier because of the eliminated lock time. It can be said that operation of this is easier than the "Octopus" because pulling in every piece of loot in the middle of fights can frequently interfere with tracking down targets with a scanner; players can selectively pull in loot if they wish to do so. However this only is automatic from the front, meaning if you destroyed an enemy and then passed the loot, then it wont collect in the back, only from the front.

The "Kingfisher" is worth the investment for any pilot wanting to profit as quickly as he or she shoots.

Galaxy on Fire 2 HD (Android)Edit

In Galaxy on Fire 2 HD (Android), tractor beams are not only expensive, but also very rare to find.
